The round hood is currently built for someone with a very small head. At it's widest it is still very snug and comes off your head as soon as you turn your head. It does have a cord around it to be able to tighten when needed but it's unnecessary as small as it is.
The other issue is the veil webbing. The part that you look through, although easier to see out of than most hoods, is narrower than other hoods and makes you feel like your looking through a slot. I measured two other round hoods that I have and both of them are at least an inch wider than this hood of the visible view portion.
This veil fits nice and snug and is very comfortable and the best thing about it is that you can actually see what you’re doing
I really like the fact that I can find the exact place to buy a replacement hood when I need it. (If I need one later) Unlike just getting a random beekeeing jacket and hood from some online superstore, I can come right back to Apis Tactical to get one to couple with the fine jacket.
There is a very nice headband on the inside, yet the best part is the full mesh collar that is just below the mesh of the see through veil. This will help the wearer cool when hard at work on a warm day.
Oh and the zipper is very smooth and easy to move, and the hood is easy to place about your head, even when wearing a hat or your glasses. I like the round hood because of its complete visibility. I feel fully protected by the light weight material.
I've ordered two jackets and the first one came with the fencing hood instead of the round hood. Called them up and they sent out a new round hood the next day! Exceptional customer service to go along with their great products. I wish all companies operated like this.
I looked for a boonie cap veil but couldn't find a reasonably price veil. I've used my Brushy Mountain veil so much that they fell apart. I like these Apis Tactical veils!
