My brother, Brian, has been beekeeping in one form or another since the 90s, including working for a very large commercial beekeeping operation, but he was always frustrated with beekeeping gloves. He finally settled on using a mechanic's gloves but said, “The only frustrating thing about these gloves is that the bees can still attack the back of the hand and they just murder my thumb knuckle.” That single sentence is what initiated the search for a way to construct a glove that has the benefits of a modern mechanic-style glove with the protection and ventilation that beekeepers need.
